Nissan Leaf Makes Middle East Debut In Jordan

Aptly making its Middle East debut in Jordan, where electrified vehicles benefit from tax cuts and EVs have made a bigger impact than anywhere else in the region, the new Nissan Leaf is faster, more efficient, unequivocally more attractive and an altogether better car than the one it replaces.

22 January 2020, Amman, Jordan – Nissan, the pioneer in electric mobility; along with Bustami & Saheb, the brand’s exclusive dealer in Jordan, launched the all-new zero-emission Nissan LEAF 2020 today in Jordan.

Marking its first entry into the Middle East, the global award-winning LEAF brings to customers in Jordan the excitement and benefit of the best-selling electric car of all time. The All- Nissan LEAF sets a new standard in the growing market for mainstream electric cars by offering customers greater range, advanced technologies, and a dynamic new design.

Drivers will feel more confident, excited and connected thanks to the Nissan LEAF’s e-Pedal, increased power and range, and improved refinement, comfort and convenience.

Thierry Sabbagh, Managing Director Nissan Middle East said, “Nissan is excited to have the All-New Nissan LEAF 2020 on sale in Jordan. As the first mass produced and leading electric vehicle globally, the Nissan LEAF demonstrates Nissan’s commitment to a more sustainable future by embodying Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the company’s approach to changing the way cars are driven, powered and integrated into society.”

In 2016, Nissan signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding with the Greater Amman Municipality in Jordan as part of a landmark initiative and provided Jordan with its first 30 Nissan LEAF and Nissan e-NV200 electric vehicles. These were the first electric vehicles of their kind to be used in the Middle East.

“At Nissan, we pride ourselves on being part of the Kingdom’s forward-looking vision for a sustainable future and in line with that, we aim to contribute positively towards protecting the environment and community by introducing the right product, at the right time, with the right technology as reflected in the All-New Nissan LEAF 2020”, Sabbagh added.

The new Nissan LEAF’s design expresses Nissan’s forward-thinking attitude and its pioneering approach to replacing the world’s best-selling electric vehicle. The sporty, eye-catching body represents the car’s dynamic EV personality. The philosophy behind the exterior design was to express clean and simple lines and a robust and sleek silhouette, creating the feeling of a high-tech device.

Ekrimah Mahasneh, CEO of Bustami & Saheb, said: “We are thrilled to introduce Nissan’s globally best-selling electric vehicle to our customers in Jordan. This reiterates our strong partnership with Nissan, and our commitment towards promoting our Government’s targets of building a better and cleaner country.  As part of this commitment, we aim to always introduce the latest electric vehicle technologies to our consumers that not only reduces ecological footprint but is also economical.”

“Jordan was the first country to embrace electric cars in the region 10 years ago and we are proud to be the first to introduce the iconic Nissan LEAF, a pioneering electric vehicle that demonstrates futuristic technology with a unique driving experience,” he added.

The comfort and quietness of the Nissan LEAF deliver a peerless ride, and the cabin features roominess and openness. Through the thoughtful design of the center console and switchgear, the Nissan LEAF gives drivers the information they need where they need it. This helps them focus on what really matters the most: an enjoyable drive.

The focal point of Nissan Intelligent Power in the Nissan LEAF is the e-powertrain, which offers improved energy efficiency and increased torque and power output. An innovation that enhances the Nissan LEAF’s driving experience is the e-Pedal, offered as standard equipment. It allows the driver the simplicity of starting, accelerating, decelerating, stopping and holding the car by using the accelerator pedal alone — a revolutionary innovation that can change the way people drive.

Starting from this month, the All-New Nissan LEAF 2020 will be available across Jordan at Bustami & Saheb showrooms.
