Seven-Seat Jeep Grand Cherokee L Makes Mideast Debut

The first all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee in over a decade, the latest and fifth incarnation trades it predecessor’s Mercedes-Benz derived platform inherited from the Daimler Chrysler era for a more modern Fiat group platform shared with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. Building on its predecessor’s more up-market direction, the new Grand Cherokee sees a host of refinement, appointment, tech and safety improvements, and for the first time – by popular demand – gains third row seating in the longer Grand Cherokee L guise. Power-train meanwhile carries over from its predecessor, with 3.6-litre V6 Pentastar and 5.7-litre V8 Hemi engines and 8-speed auto gearbox available at launch. Electrified and performance SRT versions are expected, but the latter is unconfirmed.
